Kaw Lake photo shoot was exciting.

If you like Comic Conventions and Renaissance Fairs, then Kaw Lake would have been heaven on March 6th, 2011.

We had Royal Gauntlet visit with their birds of prey.

 We had costumed models dressed as belly dancers,  barbarians, 

in firefly style ensembles and as star wars bobafet look-a-likes.

The Owl is a Eurasian Eagle Owl. His name is Ritual.

Kaw Lake was quite dazzling. The birds of prey show at the Oklahoma Ren-Fair is held by Royal Gauntlet.

Learn about the birds, enjoy the fair, and have a rousing good time every weekend in May 2011.

Here is a family photo that showed age and fading.

Photos fade over time especially when displayed in direct sunlight. Pictures on walls or frames in a room with lots of sunshine fade. The colors get weak and some facial features and details may be lost from this fading.

January Photo Walk

January, though a winter month was calm and had many days made for great photo walks. I took my first photo walk with a friend-and fellow photographer and my daughter-a future photographer. There are many things to capture the eye in and around down town Tulsa, OK.

People are great subjects. Other great subjects can include landscaping, cars, buildings, and anything else that might interest you along the journey.

This particular photo is a church which reminds me of the stories of fairy tales and knights, princesses, queens and warriors from another time and another place that can only be visited in the movies or your own imagination.This particular "castle" is located right here in Tulsa, OK present day and has nothing to do with castles (other than in my imaginary world of mysticism and fiction).

Old buildings once included figures and gargoyles which have always fascinated me. This one is on that same church (or "castle") in downtown Tulsa,OK. They were thought to keep evil spirits away...and I'm sure you can find plenty of superstitions and tales containing their origins and purposes.

Rt 66 is a favorite topic around Oklahoma. This is a gate next to The Blue Dome downtown. The Blue Dome was Rt 66's first 24 hour filling station (once upon a time). Today houses offices for local downtown restaurants for now. Oklahoma has a Rt 66 museum in Clinton, OK. Here is a link if you would like to learn more:  http://www.route66.org/index2.html 

Now that the storms have potentially passed (at least for now), enjoy a photo walk with a friend, or neighbor, or fellow photographer and see what you can capture "on film".....

Goals, Communities, and being involved

Being part of the community is part of growing a business. It doesn't matter what that business is. Our local non-profit organizations, children, and families need businesses to give back to the community. Not all businesses give back in the same way. Some have employees that volunteer at a local charity in their spare time. Others make donations to local charities or sponsor local events.
It strengthens our businesses and our communities when we all get involved.

Our particular community project is troop cookie sales. Each Girl Scout troop also gives back to the community by the way. Donations are made to local charities. Our Broken Arrow Troop is giving donations
to Blue Star Mothers. For our troop, you can support a Girl Scout and support our Troops as well.
If you want to support your local girl scout troop but don't want the temptation of sweets and extra calories, find out if their donations go to help out a non-profit organization you could donate to. This helps the girls and the non-profit organization.

Each girl has a goal (a certain number of boxes to sell) and the troop as a whole also has a set number of boxes to sell. This also teaches the Girls to be goal oriented.

This years cookies for Eastern Oklahoma area Girl Scouts are the "Super Six" as listed below:

Samoas, Trefoils, Thin Mints,

Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Lemon Chalet Cremes

They are $4.00 per box.....

New Years Resolutions: 2011

Most people make a new year's resolution  or a goal to work toward throughout the year.

My goal is to start getting things in order for my photo restoration business. 

This year, 2011, promises many things.

1. Another year has arrived and I made it through the previous year.
2. I have a little more time to reach the goals I want to achieve in life.
3. The world can be bleak, but it can also be full of warmth and kindness.

So...here is to another year and a little more time to reach for the stars or unwind the tangles of the past.
Time is precious and another year gone and another year arrived only push that home just a little more.
